Kitchen Counter Stools Transformed with a Little Paint

Kitchen Counter Stools Transformed with a Little Paint

Painted furniture makeovers are a very popular way to return old furniture to new usefulness or update your existing furniture.  Here I used a primer based spray paint on these metal counter stools.  It did take two cans per stool in order to completely cover the dark brown metal.  The spray paint has held up very well on these counter stools that are used daily.  These soft white painted stools now really belong in this bright kitchen scheme.

Paint and a little time and effort transform these kitchen stools

BEFORE – This dark metal stool was functional but unappealing and  boring.

This soothing green can be used in so many ways.  A modern lift to your media or living room pairs nicely with dark wood accents.  Aloe certainly finds a place in your beach decor as well.  Green, always reliable and a favorite of many, will find a place in most homes. Use Aloe or one of its many variations.

Cream paint lightens the look of these once dark counter stools.  Still to come, reupholstered cushions and a little dark wax to bring out the details.

Kitchen Interior Design

A lovely seaside kitchen, designed for the cook and their guests.

This light and airy, beach side kitchen is designed with the cook in mind and their guests.  Located in a beach community guests are welcomed and expected, and this kitchen accommodates everyone.  The cook works in the galley area while guests are comfortably seated at the island and/or the counter in their comfortable swivel stools, now updated in a lovely soft white.  With vegetable prep in mind, the island is equipped with a small yet useful sink, keeping everyone busy. The island and raised counter is ideal for hors d’oeuvres and snacks and the center island is perfect for lunch for two.  This no frill kitchen with its stock cabinets and Maytag appliances never disappoints.  It has a large pantry, corner lazy susan, roll out shelves abound, stem ware rack and glass front cabinet doors. It is always nice to have the upgrades but they are not necessary if the design and layout is working as it should.  This much enjoyed kitchen is a perfect example.

This room makeover could not have pleased my clients any more.  They asked for a specific room, one designed primarily for reading.  They didn’t want a television, they wanted something traditional but interesting, they knew they wanted drapery and a valance of some sort so it would be formal but not “too formal.”  They did not want a coffee table and they wanted comfortable seating for each of them with the proper lighting.  The empty room offered much promise with its long windows and great lighting, crown moldings and wood floors.  I was delighted and inspired.  The inspiration for the color scheme was the beautiful barn that you could see from the front windows.  Sherwin Williams Sommelier Red, Natural Tan for the ceiling and Greek Villa for the trim were an instant success in this room.  Away with the old gold sconces and in came outdoor barn lighting for accent lighting on the wall and above the custom bookshelf.  An evening shopping trip brought in the upholstered furniture and another trip to find the accent pieces.  An antique Singer sewing stand was repurposed for the table between the windows.  Unable to find the french provencal bookcase elsewhere it was locally custom made.  Beautifully crafted and painted with milk paint it makes a statement and is fully functional in this room.  Seersucker pinch pleat drapes add the casual elegance that my clients sought.  Hard cornices custom made and designed with a european street scene fabric add interest, and formality without being “too stuffy”.  All in all this room was styled in english country with a french provencal flair and it now has the pieces and additions my clients love and now enjoy.
