Reupholstered Chair and Ottoman Make a Statement in this Sunroom Redesign

Reupholstered Chair and Ottoman Make a Statement in this Sunroom Redesign

Three fabrics as one design has become a trending approach in upholstery.  When it works the fabrics come together making an undeniable statement.  Here all three fabrics compliment one another.  The floral pattern perfectly color matches the coordinating fabrics bringing them nicely together. When choosing your fabrics be careful not to overwhelm your room. For the ottoman only two of the fabrics were used in order to keep the pair cohesive and not too busy. These reupholstered pieces are now the statement in this sunroom.  Be careful to limit your statement pieces as to not talk over one another.  Future choices will now be made in relation to these pieces. Although the color palette has been determined it does not mean that the room should be full of color.  I see some soft color, as in the trending whites and perhaps coral valances over the many windows. Now to make my vision a reality as should you.

I hope you enjoy my short digital tour of this wonderful dining room. Featuring a little Virginian charm, a touch of high style colonial the New England way, and eastern influences; this room is visually enjoyable and simply a pleasure. These truly custom cornices are designed to fit each window. The color pallette features strong period colors in the walls and floral print fabric that are not for the feint of heart. Yet the softer green/blue curved backed parsons chairs stand up to the stronger colors. Finally the gold as seen in the tone on tone stripe of the hobbled shades is a sophisticated choice in this formal dining room. Every decision carefully thought upon and executed to transform this room that will be enjoyed for many years to come.

This room makeover could not have pleased my clients any more.  They asked for a specific room, one designed primarily for reading.  They didn’t want a television, they wanted something traditional but interesting, they knew they wanted drapery and a valance of some sort so it would be formal but not “too formal.”  They did not want a coffee table and they wanted comfortable seating for each of them with the proper lighting.  The empty room offered much promise with its long windows and great lighting, crown moldings and wood floors.  I was delighted and inspired.  The inspiration for the color scheme was the beautiful barn that you could see from the front windows.  Sherwin Williams Sommelier Red, Natural Tan for the ceiling and Greek Villa for the trim were an instant success in this room.  Away with the old gold sconces and in came outdoor barn lighting for accent lighting on the wall and above the custom bookshelf.  An evening shopping trip brought in the upholstered furniture and another trip to find the accent pieces.  An antique Singer sewing stand was repurposed for the table between the windows.  Unable to find the french provencal bookcase elsewhere it was locally custom made.  Beautifully crafted and painted with milk paint it makes a statement and is fully functional in this room.  Seersucker pinch pleat drapes add the casual elegance that my clients sought.  Hard cornices custom made and designed with a european street scene fabric add interest, and formality without being “too stuffy”.  All in all this room was styled in english country with a french provencal flair and it now has the pieces and additions my clients love and now enjoy.
